The ordination of women in the Catholic Church: a survey of attitudes in Spain

“…For Hulsether (1998) there are four steps which lead to the social acceptance of the ordination of women: the granting of equal rights to the female laity; access to the Christian education professions; the regulation of the rights of the clergy; and the removal of barriers to the most prestigious jobs. According to Hulsether's process, the Protestant church has reached the fourth step, but the Catholic Church exists in the space between the second and third steps.…”
