Primary diffuse large B-cell lymphoma of the left ureter: A case report

Abstract: Abstract. Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is a subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma occurring in various sites, but rarely involving the ureters. Primary DLBCL is a rare entity. Imaging studies in a 82-year-old male patient revealed left hydronephrosis and an area of nodular soft tissue density in the upper ureteral wall. On enhanced computed tomography scans, the lesion exhibited early enhancement. As the lesion was considered to be malignant, a left nephroureterectomy was performed for the purpose of pathol… Show more

“…However, there is no standardization regarding surgical versus nonsurgical management. There is standardization on treatment regimen, and R-CHOP chemotherapy is considered to be the most accepted and effective regimen [7]. Many of the documented reports of primary uterine and female genital tract DLBCL, including our own, show typical CD20 + markers [10].…”

“…Uterine con ned DLBCL is the rarest extranodal site of this disease, with approximately 143 reported cases in the English literature [4]. The clinical presentation of primary female genital tract lymphoma is variable and often patients complain of back pain or abnormal vaginal bleeding [6,7]. Uncommon but not a unique manifestation of this disease is severe hydronephrosis.…”

“…Primary lymphoma of the ureter is extremely rare because of absence of lymphoid tissue in the ureteral wall. [4][5][6][7][8] The reported histopathologic subtypes of primary lymphoma of the ureter include diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, follicular lymphoma, small lymphocytic lymphoma, mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma, and Hodgkin lymphoma. 6,8 The imaging findings of primary lymphoma of the ureter are rarely reported.…”
