“…Another study showed that 90% of primary peritonitis in healthy children affects girls, and ascending infection from the vagina was one of the suspected causes [22]. In our patient, this hypothesis was demonstrated because (1) no intraabdominal origin of the peritonitis was found during laparoscopic exploration; (2) the isolated bacteria was an E coli, a common germ for urine infection but less common finding in primary peritonitis, where Gram-positive bacteria are more frequent [22,23]; (3) the bacteria isolated in the infected urocolpos and in the peritoneal fluid had the same antibiotic resistance profile.…”
