“…4a). 49,50 The surface curvature and distribution of protrusions for both the functionalised PET surfaces are relatively different. 51 The CPET surface possesses a regular curvature and uniform distribution of peak to valley topography with isolated growth of micro-and nano-grooves (Fig.…”

“…This is a simultaneous effect of polar group incorporation and roughening of the surface. 28,29 Surface roughening is a permanent change on the surface, while the functional groups will be moved into the bulk of the material, be degraded or/and removed by recombination with impinging air gas molecules with time. The surface functionalization and sequenced surface ageing are perceived from the water contact angle (WCA) for various time intervals of treatment (Fig.…”

“…The graing stability in water allowed carrying out the protein immobilization. 17 Confocal images showed a higher adhesion of proteins on non treated surfaces. A reduction of the 50% on the bioadhesion was observed on plasma-treated surfaces graed with solutions containing Pluronic F68, meanwhile a reduction around the 60% was achieved when the solution contained Pluronic F108, indicating a better antifouling character when surfaces are graed with polymers of longer chains.…”

“…hydrophobic recovery that changes the surface chemistry of the polymer over the storage period affecting the wettability and the adhesion properties of plasma-treated surfaces. 17 Hence, the anti-fouling character of aged surfaces was studied.…”
