This study aims to report an experience in public schools in Rio de Janeiro -RJ, where issues related to first aid and hygiene of the human body were developed, in addition to themes related to adolescence, such as drugs, violence and pregnancy. Objective: to describe the practice of health education, based on the theoretical knowledge of the collective health discipline. Method: qualitative-descriptive research, type of experience report. Lectures and extra-class dynamics were used to fix the contents, such as: educational games, questionnaires and dramatizations, being these activities ludic and closer to the school context. Conclusion: it was possible to understand the skills that nurses should perform, also acting as an educator, aiming at education as a conduit to develop their potential, in their condition as a dynamic subject, in addition to applying efficient strategies to contribute to the formation and understanding of health your community.
