Legume crops represent the major source of food protein and contribute to human nutrition and animal feeding. An essential improvement of their productivity can be achieved by symbiosis with beneficial soil microorganisms—rhizobia (Rh) and arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi. The efficiency of these interactions depends on plant genotype. Recently, we have shown that, after simultaneous inoculation with Rh and AM, the productivity gain of pea (Pisum sativum L) line K-8274, characterized by high efficiency of interaction with soil microorganisms (EIBSM), was higher in comparison to a low-EIBSM line K-3358. However, the molecular mechanisms behind this effect are still uncharacterized. Therefore, here, we address the alterations in pea seed proteome, underlying the symbiosis-related productivity gain, and identify 111 differentially expressed proteins in the two lines. The high-EIBSM line K-8274 responded to inoculation by prolongation of seed maturation, manifested by up-regulation of proteins involved in cellular respiration, protein biosynthesis, and down-regulation of late-embryogenesis abundant (LEA) proteins. In contrast, the low-EIBSM line K-3358 demonstrated lower levels of the proteins, related to cell metabolism. Thus, we propose that the EIBSM trait is linked to prolongation of seed filling that needs to be taken into account in pulse crop breeding programs. Arbuscular mycorrhiza (AM) is one of the most common terrestrial plant-microbe symbioses. The interest in studying AM is caused by its importance for the growth and nutrition of plants and its ecological role in preserving biological diversity. At present, 92% of plant families are known to form AM. Fungi in AM are obligate symbionts and belong to a monophyletic group – Glomeromycotina subdivision. Some researchers believe that formation of AM-symbiosis with fungi by ancient plants allowed them to inhabit land, which has led to the formation of the biosphere as we know it. AM is studied by researchers from around the world including Russia. This overview presents in brief the results of AM research in Russia during the Soviet period which did not receive international coverage due to its classified nature; the most prominent research schools and works of AM researchers are identified; main stages and lines of this research are listed, such as: distribution of AM in plant communities and different climatic zones, mycorrhiza anatomy and morphology, fungi species composition on different soils, collection of AM fungi and growing AM in vitro, physiological role of AM for agricultural plants, the impact different ecological factors have on AM fungi species composition and AM development, conditions for effective use of Am fungi to increase productivity and quality of agricultural plants as well as to perform biological recultivation of toxic soils and restore the fertility of degraded soils.

A obtenção de soros policlonais contra fitopatógenos tem por finalidade a elaboração de imunoensaios que permitam identificar e caracterizar os mesmos com rapidez e a custos baixos. Soros policlonais foram produzidos contra extratos das hifas de isolados de Crinipellis perniciosa, agente causal da vassoura-de-bruxa, coletados de cacaueiro (Theobroma cacao) nos estados do Pará e Bahia para identificação e caracterização de isolados de diversas regiões e hospedeiros. O soro denominado de 1 foi produzido a partir do isolado ESJOH-1 (originário do Pará), e o soro 2 foi produzido com o isolado CP-85 (originário da Bahia). Não houve reação cruzada dos soros contra extratos protéicos das espécies Alternaria solani, Marasmius sp., Oudemansiella canarii e Verticillium fungicola. Os soros apresentaram reação cruzada de alta afinidade com extratos de Moniliophthora roreri e de baixa a média afinidade com Marasmius cladophyllus. A caracterização dos isolados foi feita com amostras do biotipo-C coletados no Amazonas, Bahia, Mato Grosso, Rondônia e Pará. As reações sorológicas dos dois soros não permitiram diferenciar os isolados do Pará e da Bahia, contra os quais foram produzidos, e também não reagiram diferencialmente com isolados de outros estados. O reconhecimento dos antígenos entre os soros foi variável, pois o soro 1 e soro 2 apresentaram reação sorológica diferenciada para alguns isolados. Os soros produzidos apresentaram alta afinidade contra isolados dos biotipos-C e S, independente de sua origem geográfica, podendo ser usados para identificação.
