Production, characterization, engine performance and emission characteristics of Croton megalocarpus and Ceiba pentandra complementary blends in a single-cylinder diesel engine
Abstract:Potentiality and sustainability of two biodiesel feedstocks namelyCroton megalocarpusandCeiba pentandrahave been investigated. 20% (v/v) optimum combined blending of this two sources can substitute the fossil diesel.

One step transesterification process was followed as the acid value of the crude oil was 3.47 mgKOH/g which is less than 4 [19,20]. In transesterification process, crude palm oil was heated in a 2100 ml double jacked glass reactor at 65 C for 30 min for removing the moisture.…”

“…Biodiesel blending was also reported to significantly reduce hydrocarbon (HC) emission, though the amount of reduction reported varied from article to article Buyukkaya, 2010). Biodiesel created a comparatively smoother combustion and a higher evaporation rate, which resulted in reduced HC emission (Ruhul et al, 2016). High oxygen content also advanced the injection timing, which provided more time for HC to be oxidized .…”
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
