Production of high-performance textiles via pioneering strengthening approach using starch nanoparticles

Abstract: To minimize the serious defects of durable press finishing of cellulosic textiles with respect to the great loss in strength properties, new pioneering strengthening approach of cotton fabric based on our previously prepared starch nanoparticles of size around 80–100 nm was used. For this purpose, cotton fabrics were treated with different concentrations of starch nanoparticles via coating technique using pad-dry-cure method, at which the starch nanoparticles are attached to the fabrics with the use of a padde… Show more

“…The latter interact with negatively charged residue on the surface of bacteria; such interaction causes extensive changes in the cell surface and cell permeability leading to leakage of intercellular substances. In this way, the growth of bacterial species is hindered and, finally, leads to the death of these cells (Mostafa and El-Sanabary, 2020; Zhao et al , 2011; Ibrahim et al , 2019; Morsy et al , 2019; Mostafa et al , 2020).…”

“…It is one of the poly carboxylic acids which have been used as a substitution for formaldehyde releasing conventional N-methylol compounds especially in durable press finishing processes to impart ease and care characteristics especially for wrinkle resistance in presence of sodium hypophosphite as a potential catalyst for ester crosslinking (Mostafa et al , 2019; Morsy et al , 2019; Welch and Kottes Andrews, 1989; Choi et al , 1993; Schramm et al , 2002). However, there are a limited reports about the possibility of imparting desirable anti-bacterial activity, ease and care and reinforcement functionalities to the viscose fabric using a proper an echo-friendly finishing technique (Mostafa et al , 2019; Morsy et al , 2019; Mostafa et al , 2020; Mostafa and El-Sanabary, 2020; Roy Choudhury, 2017; Ibrahim et al , 2018).…”

“…With the continuous improvement of living standards, people's demand for multifunctional textiles such as hygiene, non-ironing, ultraviolet protection and self-cleaning is increasing. [1][2][3][4] The combination of some special finishing agents can make the textile obtain two or more specific functions at the same time, which is valuable for multifield applications. [5][6][7][8] Cotton fabric has good hydrophilicity and air permeability, meanwhile it has the advantage of flexibility and comfort.…”
