Productivity of Rainfed Winter Wheat with Direct Sowing and Economic Efficiency of Diversified Fertilization in Arid Region of South Kazakhstan

Abstract: Reduced soil tillage is a powerful means to mitigate soil degradation. However, in arid climates, no-till rainfed technologies often result in yield drop due to lack of soil moisture and mineral nutrition. Rainfed production of winter wheat using direct sowing and diversified fertilization in South Kazakhstan was studied in 2019–2020. Eight field-scale treatments using nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers were studied for biometric parameters of winter wheat. An economic profitability of the amendments used was… Show more

“…The use of phosphorous and potassium fertilisers is less effective than nitrogen fertilisers. In research by S. Turebayeva et al (2022), application of P 30 increased the yield of winter wheat grain from 1.28 to 1.76 t hа -1 . Increasing the dose to P 45 provided a yield of 1.96 t hа -1 .…”

“…Increasing the dose to P 45 provided a yield of 1.96 t hа -1 . The highest efficiency of phosphorous and potassium fertilisers is provided by nitrogen fertilisers (Turebayeva et al, 2022). Thus, the application of N 50 R 30 provided the receipt of 3.18 t hа -1 of winter wheat grains (Turebayeva et al, 2022).…”

“…Research conducted by V.V. Bezpalko et al [32] and S. Turebayeva et al [33] established that one of the most important periods of winter grain vegetation is the "trubbing" phase. During this period, lateral shoots and a secondary root system are formed from the underground nodes of the stem, that is, the organs that determine the yield of the crop are laid.…”
