Information and communication technologies have brought profound change in the work environment of library professionals. Changes can bring uncertainty, fear and dissatisfaction. The purpose of the study was to measure the Quality of Work Life of librarians and to ascertain the relationship with some demographic characteristics. Respondents are 175 librarians working in various library types in Nigeria. A Quality of Work Life scale was used to collect data for the study. Findings show that Quality of work life of librarians in the study is relatively high in areas of opportunity for continued growth and security, social integration in the work organization, and social relevance of work. However, important areas such as fair remuneration, training and retraining, provision for job performance and equal right issues were areas of dissatisfaction for the librarians. Findings also show significant relationship between Quality of Work Life and gender, age, institution type and years of work experience. There was no relationship with educational qualification. Essentially, librarians' Quality of Work Life need to be a positive one in all areas and for all concerned for job retention and good productivity. It is therefore imperative that librarians map out advocating strategies to improve their work environment and also ensure adequate compensation. This will help increase their Quality of work life in this digital era.

Background:Improving the working conditions of rural doctors is an important issue to increase the quality of health services to target groups.Objectives:To assess the working experience of rural doctors at primary health care level.Materials and Methods:This qualitative study was conducted among 30 medical officers from 21 primary health centers in Malappuram district of Kerala, India. In-depth interview was conducted, and content analysis was performed with the identification of themes based on the responses obtained.Results:There were 19 males and 11 females belonged to 25 to 55 years age group. About 70% (21) of them were graduates with MBBS qualification, and the rest were postgraduates. About 2/3rd of them (20) had experience of less than 5 years. They expressed difficulty in managing the work in stipulated time period. However, this had never affected their OP management in anyway. They told that higher authorities were supportive, but they faced some opposition from the public in implementation of national program. Few opined that the training received was grossly insufficient in running the administrative affairs of the health center. Most of them satisfied with physical infrastructure, but manpower including medical officers and supporting staff were not sufficient. Some opined that the age of retirement is too early and should be increased. They participated in Continuing Medical Education, but expressed that it's content should suit to primary health care level.Conclusion:This study highlighted their concern to patient care and time, field work, administrative work, infrastructure, professional development, and future prospects. Further large scale evaluation studies will explore the situational analysis of it.

Introducción: Los factores psicosociales influyen en la calidad de vida de los profesionales de enfermería en el ámbito hospitalario asociados a variables sociodemográficas y laborales que repercuten en su calidad de vida.Objetivo: Analizar la calidad de vida laboral percibida por los profesionales de enfermería en un centro hospitalario, asociada a factores psicosociales y sociodemográficos.Metodología: Trabajo de campo descriptivo, observacional, cuantitativo, concurrente, transversal sobre calidad de vida. Muestra: profesionales de enfermería del ámbito hospitalario (N=240). El estudio realizado desde 2016 a 2018.Herramienta medición: cuestionario CVP-35, y datos sociodemográficos y laborales.Resultados: La satisfacción de los profesionales con la calidad de vida percibida (94%) es alta. Los porcentajes bajos se presentan en el apoyo directivo (48%). Existen asociaciones significativas (p<0.05) entre los ámbitos sociodemográficos y su relación con las tres dimensiones analizadas de la calidad de vida laboral.Conclusiones: El apoyo directivo hacia los enfermeros no ha sido un estímulo apropiado para el desarrollo y mejora de sus funciones.
