Proliferation and differentation markers in snuff‐induced oral mucosal lesions

Abstract: The findings of this study showing suppressed cellular proliferation and infrequent p53 dysfunction in snuff lesions may partly explain why dysplastic changes are seldom seen in mucosal lesions induced by the Scandinavian type of snuff.

We believe that in the CT group, the cell cycle was working under natural conditions and since PCNA is characterized by a longer half-life, it was thus detectable in many cells that had already passed through the cycle.…”
