Properties and Structure of Deposited Nanocrystalline Coatings in Relation to Selected Construction Materials Resistant to Abrasive Wear

Abstract: Presented in this work are the properties and structure characteristics of MMA (Manual Metal Arc) deposited nanocrystalline coatings (Fe-Cr-Nb-B) applied to an iron nanoalloy matrix on an S355N steel substrate in relation to selected construction materials resistant to abrasive wear currently used in industry. The obtained overlay welds were subjected to macro and microscopic metallographic examinations; grain size was determined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), and chemical composition of precipitates was determin… Show more

“…The arc thermal spraying is also used to deposit the metals and its alloys [14,15]. The metals can be applied by laser cladding [16], arc welding [17] and friction surfacing [18]. Information on thermal spraying directly in water is very limited.…”

“…For example, an interesting and original technique of laser cladding under high frequency micro-vibration was developed and presented by Li et al [22]. Many researchers point to several advantages of laser cladding over other methods of coatings [23][24][25][26][27]. However, current trends to ensure the highest energy efficiency of machines and devices, including the durability and reliability of machine components and tools, force the search for new or improved materials, as well as for new methods of their manufacturing, to overcome the limitations of current technologies.…”
