“…With an increase in CR replacement ratio, the 28-d flexural strength of FRRC declined by 8.7%-18.6%, which could be attributed to the reasons explained in the reduction in compressive strength. Similar results were reported by Chaikaew et al (2019) and Eisa et al (2020) that the flexural strength of FRRC incorporating ST fibres reduced with the increase in CR content (5%-20%). The final failure modes of the specimens after flexural J o u r n a l P r e -p r o o f loading were analysed using the DIC technique in the form of full strain fields shown in Fig.…”

“…RTS fibres have a higher specific gravity of 7.8 and thus, increasing the RTS fibre dosage from 0.5 vol% to 1.5 vol% led to an approximately 5.9% increment in bulk density of FRRC. A similar finding was observed by Chaikaew et al (2019) that the increase in ST fibre content led to an increase in bulk density of FRRC, where the increment ranged from 1.3%-3.7%. This is because the specific gravity of steel fibre is much larger than that of the cementitious matrix, although the fibre dosage is J o u r n a l P r e -p r o o f small.…”

“…They reported that by adding scrap rubber into the composition of concrete will increase the energy and thermal strengths and recommended to be applied in making create material. In a similar study, Chaikaew et al [36] prepared recycled crumb rubber particles to make concrete material. In order to enhance the mechanical properties of concrete pedestrian blocks, they mixed the waste crumb rubber with short steel fibres.…”

“…The use of rubber chips in building mixtures has been investigated for construction elements, [54] as well as materials with increased resistance to low temperatures [55]. The addition of crumb rubber to the cement compositions leads to compressive strength decrease.…”
