Properties ofQswitches with partial polarizers

Abstract: The system of nonlinear equations of the Provotorov type and of the Rloch tvpe are derived in a rigorous manner in order to consider the r61e of phonons in the low-temperature paramagnetic relaxation. Near the end of the relaxation process the modified Bloch equations are equivalent to those of Brya and Wagner. The thermal phonons are considered in both collisionless and collision-dominated regimes. In the collision-dominated regime thermal phonons have a dominant r6le in the relaxation process.
