Properties of UV-Curable Hyperbranched Urethane-Acrylate Modified Acrylic Monomer Coatings

Abstract: In this work it is suggested to modify trimethylolpropane ethoxylate triacrylate (TMPETA) with solvent born difunctional urethane acrylate oligomer (UA) of hyperbranched structure and high molecular weight. In this case the photopolymer composition initial UV-precuring was replaced by thermal action. Under heating at 70 °C temperature solvent (butyl acetate) evaporates and layer with proper deformation properties for microrelief embossing was obtained. After microrelief embossing UV-curing … Show more

“…When the CN 9014 oligomer content was decreased, the adhesion strength for FTO glass decreased. In the case of the lower CN 9014 oligomer content, the relative amounts of acrylic monomer increased in the adhesives, and the hardness of adhesives after exposure increased; this produced poor adhesion strength for the FTO glass . This poor adhesion could have been due to the cured adhesives' poor resistance to corrosion by the electrolyte.…”

“…Standard tensile stress-strain experiments were performed at room temperature on tensile tester BDO FB020TN (Zwick Roell, Germany) according to the requirements of LVS EN ISO 527-3:2000 [16] and [2,6,17] (sample shape: double blade films; the speed of the upper cross-head: 10 mm/min). Samples were placed in a universal testing facility holder and deformed at a rate of 25 mm/min.…”

“…Mechanical and other properties of the acrylic coating system depend on the composition, created by acrylic functional monomers and oligomers, photo initiators, and other additives [1,2,6]. Supplementing the polymer system with various additives including biopolymer fillers, one can impart short-term functionality (good destruction in solvent media) for the coating but also change mechanical and other properties.…”

“…The properties of the methacrylate can be improved by combining them with other polymers such polyurethanes. Polyurethanes have many unique properties, such as a wide range of fl exibility combined with toughness, a high abrasion resistance, a good chemical resistance, a high acid etch resistance, an excellent weather resistance, and a low temperature of curing 2, 3 . Photocurable varnishes on the basis of urethane acrylate can be applied for preparation of appropriate surfaces on a glass, metal, wood, and even on the surface of the nail plates 3, 4 .…”
