Protecting Effects of Vasoactive Intestinal Polypeptide on Lymphocytes Against Metal Toxicity

Abstract: The hormonal neuropeptides calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), cholecystokinin (CCK), neuropeptide Y (NPY) and vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP), were investigated for a potential protective effect on thymocytes after a toxic dose of nickel sulfate, giving an inhibition of DNA synthesis.
