“…(37) Several studies have revealed that constituents in JXR including Fructus Ligustri Lucidi, Radix Astragali, Rhizoma Coptidis, can ameliorate oxidative stress and exhibit antioxidant activity. (38)(39)(40) In the present study, JXR showed antioxidant defense with increased SOD activity and decreased MDA contents in diabetic rats. Therefore, the protection of diabetic retina may be through enforcing antioxidant defense.…”

“…Psychostimulants/psycholeptics have been shown to induce the stimulation/inhibition of the central nervous system (CNS), causing enhancement/weakness to motor function and affecting behavioral performance (Singh et al, 2011). To investigate whether efficacy of 1-MT on emotional deficits was related to CNS stimulation/inhibition, each mouse received a locomotor activity test, an index of wakefulness or alertness of mental activity (Patil et al, 2015). No difference of locomotor activity was observed among groups, indicating that neither 1-MT nor drinking interfered with the accuracy of the results obtained from behavioral tests.…”

“…Two independent recent studies showed BBR protects the liver from ethanol-induced oxidative stress both in mice (Zhang et al, 2014) and rats (Patil et al, 2015). The neuroprotective effect of BBR against LD may result from diminished oxidative stress and inhibition of microglial activation.…”
