traveling waves for voltages above the corona level. Figs. 4 and 5 for the higher voltages show that for the steeper fronts applied, the waves were practically all of more than 2 microseconds duration to crest after traveling 1 mile. Data taken in tests at the Ohio Brass Company laboratory a few years ago3 reported the same general observations, and constituted the basis for suggesting committee action relative to revising lightning arrester tests.The authors' observation that raini has little effect on attenuation of traveling waves is an interesting new contribution. Their tests relative to induced coupling factors are also of interest and should be worthy of further study.
