“…8,9 In the last few decades, perylenediimide (PDI) as an important fluorescent molecule of rylene diimide family has drawn a great attention in the field of analytes and detection of small molecules. 10,11 In the year 1913, PDI was synthesized by Kardos 12 for the first time and he showed its application in industry as a dye material 13 owing to its poor solubility and excellent photostability. Beside this, it has other applications in the wide range of fields such as bioimaging, 14 optoelectronic devices, 15,16 organic photovoltaic, 17 organic solar cells, 18 dye-based laser, 19 organic light emitting diodes, 20 and organic field effect transistors.…”

“…In continuation of our interest in molecular recognition of analytes using p-conjugated aromatic imide, [33][34][35][36][37][38] herein, we have designed an NPG derivative built from 1,8-naphthalimide and pentaethylene glycol for complexation with Pd 2+ ions. NPG showed high affinity for Pd 2+ ions with a limit of detection as low as 75 nM in HEPES buffer-DMSO (1 : 1, pH 7.2) solution.…”

“…[26][27][28][29][30] However, the polyethers attached to 1,8-naphthalimide fluorophore for recognition of heavy metals ions in aqueous medium and as developers for fingerprint imaging are scarcely known. [31,32] In continuation of our interest on π-conjugated imide chemistry for detection of Pd, Fe species and other heavy metal ions, [33][34][35][36][37][38][39][40] herein, we have synthesized pseudo-crown ether functionalized 1,8-naphthalimide (NHG) using literature procedure. The fluorescence spectrum of NHG showed decrease in the fluorescence intensity at 457 nm upon addition of Pd 2 + and Fe 3 + ions in 70 % HEPES buffer-DMSO (pH 7.2) solution with detection limit as low as 2.5 and 15 nM, respectively.…”
