The number of people bereaved due to the Covid-19 pandemic is a major health and social care concern. At a time of unprecedented demand on acute and critical care services, restricted family presence to reduce transmission of the disease had a profound impact on the way bereavement support could be provided in the hospital setting. In response, relatively rapid adaptions to practices were required. This paper provides inspiration and guidance on an acute hospital initiative designed to address the emotional needs of the immediately bereaved. The core features of a supported viewing service are presented through the lens of key employees who played a central role in its development and delivery, and with reference to the prevailing literature. Formal evaluation of the service through qualitative inquiry is recommended, complementary to anecdotal evidence of appreciative uptake of the service during the pandemic.

The pandemic has resulted in changes to public policy, particularly in public budgeting. This is the case not only at the central level but also at local and village government levels. The challenge of changing public policy also occurs in the fiscal policy sector. Village governments are required to reallocate their budgets for activities to handle the pandemic and post-pandemic economic recovery. Hence, this article aims to describe changes in village government budgeting policy changes from the perspective of punctuated equilibrium in public policy studies. The data in this study were obtained through focus group discussions and secondary data collection. The study found that the political equilibrium of a policy cannot last forever. Policy changes occur if there is a change in the agreement between policy-making actors. Public policy changes have so far been understood to occur slowly and gradually. However, this article proves that it can occur drastically and within a short period of time. Objective: to develop a playful-educational technology for learning Nursing Semiology and Semiotics, as well as to carry out the evaluation of its playability before and after implementing adjustments with undergraduate Nursing students. Method: a methodological study that followed the planning, prototyping and production stages corresponding to the first playable version for development. For the playability evaluation, 62 students were divided into two groups: one for to evaluate the preliminary version and the other for after implementing adjustments; and, for this, the Friedman test was used, which allows detecting differences between medians of more than two paired samples, considering p-value below 5% as statistical significance. Results: the game had three sequential phases: the first addressed vital signs; the second, biosafety measures; and the third, the physical examination. Referring to the playability evaluation, it was possible to observe that the “Concentration” and “Feedback” categories and the general median presented better evaluation scores after implementing adjustments. Conclusion: the current study sought to develop a technology that would allow students attending Bachelor's degree courses in Nursing to sharpen their knowledge in Nursing Semiology and Semiotics. In addition to that, it was sought to evaluate the playability of Semio em Jogo ®; thus, it was observed that the academic community considered the game satisfactory after the modifications as much as before implementing them.
