“…G-CSF may exaggerate cytokine dysregulation, which frequently occurs in the rapid recovery phase of haematopoiesis after PBSC transplantation and is clinically recognised as engraftment syndrome. In the literature, G-CSF has been shown to activate pre-existing inflammatory eye disease or even induce the disease,33 34 to cause transient hypoxemia,35 36 hypercoagulable state,37 lower threshold of seizure in patients with central nervous system (CNS) lupus,38 and induce flares of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis, an animal model of multiple sclerosis 39. For these reasons, patients with autoimmune diseases undergoing non-myeloablative autologous HSCT at our centre are mobilised with Cy and G-CSF and are administered G-CSF for faster WBC engraftment starting day +5 of HSCT.…”

“…Other side effects due to G-CSF are headache, splenomegaly, anemia, thrombocytopenia, hypersensitivity and urticarial at injection site [52,54]. G-CSF-also induced lung toxicity post cancer chemotherapy [55][56][57].…”

G-CSF-also induced lung toxicity post cancer chemotherapy [55][56][57].GM-CSF treatment has greater frequency of side effects -most common being fever accompanied with influenza-like syndrome and myalgias [58]. Flushing, hypotension, tachycardia, dyspnea and musculoskeletal pain are the first dose reaction due to the GM-CSF administration.…”

“…Interstitial pneumonitis has developed during G-CSF administration in 2 patients whose malignant lymphomas were treated with chemotherapy (22). Five patients have been reported with rapidly increasing dyspnea and fever and bilateral diffuse interstitial infiltrates following chemotherapy for aggressive non-Hodgkin lymphoma, despite a normal white blood cell count.…”
