Purification of Deep Water in a Dam Lake Using Micro-Bubbles and/or Eco-Bio-Ring

Abstract: Abstract-This study is aiming at finding an efficient method to purify deep water in Midorikawa-dam Lake in Kumamoto Pref., Japan. The biological oxygen demand (BOD) of the water at first was 46 mg/L in the worst case. In the test, micro-bubbles were periodically supplied into the water in 80 L tank by a multi-fluids-mixer patented by Sadatomi and Kawahara. The bubbling rate were changed as Q G = 1.0 L/min and 2.0 L/min to study its effect. In addition, the Eco-Bio-Ring including aerobic bacteria (Bacillus bac… Show more

“…1 [1] which is categorized as a twin-fluid type but have a merit of water suction type. The mixer is usable to generate mists [2][3][4][5], fine liquid droplets, as well as microbubbles [6,7] when water is supplied and air is sucked. In the mists generation, pressurized air alone is supplied because water can be sucked automatically through a porous pipe by a negative pressure arisen downstream from an orifice in the mixer.…”

“…Thus, the mixer can be operated with a lower electric power than the usual twin-fluid type, i.e., operable with a solar power [3][4][5][6][7][8]. The mixer is also usable as a micro bubble generator [9,10] when water is supplied and air is sucked.…”
