“…The clinical presentation of the GI tract PG depends on its site [4]. Gastrointestinal bleeding is the most common presenting symptom (in 34.55% of cases) [3,11,18,19,21,23,24,26]. Overt GI bleeding was the most common clinical presentation in our series, and gastric PG should be considered a source of hemorrhage in patients presenting with overt GI bleeding or iron deficiency anemia.…”

“…To our knowledge, approximately 65 cases of PG in the alimentary tract (other than in the oral mucosa) have been published in the literature. The reports have described 19 cases of PG in the esophagus [10–14]; five cases in the stomach; 20 cases in the small intestine [10,11,14–18]; 19 cases in the colon [10,19–25]; one case in an unidentified area of the alimentary tract [26]; and one case in the common bile duct [1]. The patients' ages ranged from 1.5 years to 82 years (mean age, 49.97 years) and 56.36% of the patients were male.…”

“…The locations of pyogenic granuloma were as follows: 14 in the esophagus, 3-10 2 in the stomach, 10,11 1 in the duodenum, 12 1 in the jejunum, 13 7 in the ileum, 7,10,13-15 and 10 in the colon. 10,13,[16][17][18][19] Pyogenic granulomas range in color from dark red to fresh sanguine. Although the surface is usually smooth, it tends to be friable, hemorrhagic, and accompanied by erosion and ulcers, and it sometimes ex- ibits pyogenic exudates.…”

“…The term pyogenic granuloma (PG) is a misnomer, and lobular capillary hemangioma is the currently preferred term [ 1 - 3 ]. PG is a benign lesion that occurs on skin and mucosal surfaces of the proximal aero-digestive tracts, but has also been reported to occur subcutaneously, intravenously, in the small bowel, colon and rectum and on burn scars [ 4 - 6 ]. Although cutaneous PG may present as multiple lesions and necrosis, invasion of surrounding tissues is never seen.…”
