Show more

“…Out of the total collected, 65% are intended to the town, this resource being applied into projects which revert in behalf o the local community, as improvement the infrastructure of the environmental quality, health and education (DNPM, 2010). Corrêa & Bento (2010) state that the work whose objective is the restoration of mining ecosystems should be developed aiming at strengthening the edaphological systems with techniques which improve the physical quality of the substrates and do not exceed the natural fertility levels. The main impacts generated potentially upon the edaphological system focus on the alteration of the topography and interruption of the nutrient cycling.…”

“…Assessing soil quality is also challenging because soil quality can vary in accordance with its original composition and it is strongly linked to anthropogenic activities (ARAÚJO; KER; NEVES, 2012). Corrêa and Bento (2010) recommend that scientists study the restoration of mined ecosystems to strengthen knowledge of edaphological systems and to develop effective techniques that can improve the physical quality of substrates.…”

“…The long-term demanded for the vegetation cover development on the mine located in the Brasília National Park -A 1 (Table 1; Figure 1), where diaspores are abundant, portrays the adverse conditions of the mined surface. Increases in species richness and plant biomass are necessary for the development of an ecosystem (Starr et al, 2013) but a few Cerrado species are able to recruit on exploited mines (Corrêa et al, 2007), where chemical, physical, and biological conditions cannot support live forms (Corrêa & Bento, 2010).…”
