Qualitative Functional Decomposition Analysis of Evolved Neuromorphic Flight Controllers

Abstract: In the previous work, it was demonstrated that one can effectively employ CTRNN-EH (a neuromorphic variant of EH method) methodology to evolve neuromorphic flight controllers for a flapping wing robot. This paper describes a novel frequency groupingbased analysis technique, developed to qualitatively decompose the evolved controllers into explainable functional control blocks. A summary of the previous work related to evolving flight controllers for two categories of the controller types, called autonomous and… Show more

“…Altra Torin IQ smart shoes (Siddiqui, 2017) or "PrecisionWEAR" brand t-shirt (Siddiqui, 2020) which provides data in 21 different parameters on this subject, is a good example of wearable technology. Neuromorphic Engineering: Neuromorphic engineering principles is an interdisciplinary subject that is based on the principles of biological nervous systems including biology, physics, mathematics, computer science and electronics engineering, inspiring the design of artificial neural systems such as visual systems, sensing systems, hearing processors and autonomous robots, as well as physical architecture and design (Boddhu and Gallagher, 2012).…”

“…These methods are proving so effective that all major Internet and computing companies now have "deep learning" the branch of machine learning that builds tools based on deep (multilayer) neural networks research opus. Moreover, most major research universities have machine learning groups in computer science, mathematics, or statistics [21][22][23][24]. Machine learning is such a rapidly growing field that it was recently called the "infrastructure for everything."…”
