“…Patients in these other observational trials also showed improved symptoms and health, as well as improved quality of life. The effect sizes were also comparable between these studies, for example, Melchart et al [47] found effects around d = 0.5 for changes to patients' PCS and MCS after 6 months, changes only marginally larger than those found in the present study. More than two fifths of the patients in the present study (42%) reported improvements of >5 points in the SF-36, which is considered clinically relevant [49].…”

“…Another problem resulted from the followup response rate the loss of 50% of the patients at 12 months generating much missing data. Whilst other quality assurance programs have experienced similar response rates [41, 42], some have lost only 25% of their participants [47]. The followup losses experienced in the present study may mean that the reported results reflect a bias in patients' response behaviours.…”

“…According to Melchart et al [10], structural features like facility characteristics, medical equipment, constructional features or internal communication play an important role in the quality profile of integrative rehabilitation clinics. Thus, the above mentioned aspects may play a more central role in neurological or other critical care units with an integrative medical care program than conventional medical care programs.…”

“…Diverse klinische Studien konnten belegen, dass stationäre Behandlungen mit einem naturheilkundlichen [10,11,12,13,14,15] oder integrativen [16,17,18,19] Ansatz zu einer wesentlichen und nachhaltigen Verbesserung der gesamten LQ führen.…”
