Anakinra is a drug that can be administered subcutaneously as a self-injection in both children and adults. We aimed to evaluate the content, reliability, and quality of the videos most viewed on "anakinra self-injection" on YouTube, which is an easily accessible source of information. We performed a YouTube search using the keywords "anakinra", "anakinra injection", and "anakinra self-injection" in addition to the generic and commercial names of the biologic agent in September 2021. The quality and reliability of the videos were assessed according to the Global Quality Score (GQS) and DISCERN score. Video power index was used to assess both the view and the like ratio of the videos. A total of 51 videos were analyzed, a majority of which were uploaded by physicians (56.9%). The median GQS was 3 and total DISCERN score was 49. According to the GQS, 21.6% of the videos were of low quality, 35.3% were of fair quality, and 43.1% were of high quality. High-quality videos had higher DISCERN scores and longer duration of videos (p < 0.05). 41 (80.4%) videos were categorized as useful information, and 8 (15.7%) as useful as per patients' opinion. Further, GQS and DISCERN scores of videos that had useful information were significantly higher. There are numerous YouTube videos with helpful information that can be a source of knowledge on the safe and correct technique of daily anakinra self-injection for both adults and children. There was no significant difference in patient interaction between useful and misleading videos. This indicates that patients do not differentiate between high-and low-quality videos.

A BSTRACT Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate quality, reliability, and comprehensiveness of YouTube videos about oral self-examination to detect oral cancer and precancerous lesions and to assess whether the source, duration, quality, reliability, and/or comprehensiveness of videos influence their visibility and popularity. Materials and Methods: Videos on YouTube were searched using eight keywords similar to oral self-examination. The first 100 videos for each search term were included. Strict inclusion and exclusion criteria were adhered to, and videos were assessed for quality, reliability, and comprehensiveness. Upload date, views, likes, dislikes, duration, and source of the videos were noted. Viewing rate and interaction index were calculated for each video. Results: A total of 800 videos were analyzed, 24 of which met the inclusion criteria. Majority of videos (87%) were uploaded by the healthcare group. The visibility, quality, reliability, and comprehensiveness were higher in videos uploaded by the healthcare group when compared with the non-healthcare group, but not at a level of statistical significance. The mean interaction index score of the non-healthcare group was found to be higher than the healthcare group, with statistically significant difference. Duration of videos showed an impact on the comprehensiveness of the videos. Conclusion: There are relatively few videos on oral self-examination on YouTube, and most do not have satisfactory quality, reliability, and comprehensiveness. There is a potential to increase public awareness about oral self-examination by utilizing this tool. Videos with complete and accurate information regarding oral self-examination must be uploaded to YouTube, which is currently an important source of information for the general public.

Introduction: YouTube™ has grown into one of the largest disseminators of health care information. We assessed the quality of information on varicoceles and their treatment, available on YouTube™. Methods: Using a YouTube™ search query with the keyword “varicocele,” the quality of the first 50, nonrepeat videos in English were assessed as a representative group for the topic. DISCERN and Patient Education Materials Assessment Tool for Audiovisual Materials (PEMAT-AV) standardized tools were utilized by three independent reviewers to grade the quality of these videos based on content, understandability, and actionability. Results: The average and median DISCERN score was 31.34 (±9.37) and 31 (interquartile range 25–35), respectively, indicating poor quality. The interrater reliability (IRR) scores ranged from 0.51 to 0.93, indicating fair to excellent reliability. The average PEMAT-AV understandability and actionability scores were 69.8% ±15.4% and 11.0% ±24.6%, respectively, indicating mostly understandable but poor actionability. The t -test results showed that international videos scored higher without statistical significance in the DISCERN or PEMAT-AV scores ( P = 0.18, 0.59, and 0.20). Conclusions: The current quality of videos on YouTube™ on the topic of varicoceles is of poor quality due to a lack of a holistic approach in explaining the wide range of treatment options available. With the ease of access to produce and disseminate health information, there is a need to create high-quality videos on varicoceles that empower a patient to make an informed decision.
