This paper provides an overview of the circular economy in Egypt. With the country facing significant environmental challenges, a circular economy approach can offer sustainable solutions to Egypt's environmental challenges by addressing issues like limited resources, waste generation, and a growing population in an eco-friendly and long-term perspective. This research employs a mixed-methods approach, including a literature review, surveys, and consultations with key stakeholders. The analysis reveals that although there are numerous challenges to establishing a circular economy in Egypt, such as limited understanding, insufficient government backing, and inadequate infrastructure, there are also opportunities, such as increasing demand for eco-friendly goods and services, as well as a receptive business environment. The paper recommends various policy and practical interventions to overcome these barriers and capitalize on these opportunities, including increasing awareness and understanding of the circular economy, developing supportive programs and regulations, investing in infrastructure and technology, and fostering stakeholder collaboration. This paper provides valuable insights into the potential for a circular economy in Egypt and the steps that can be taken to create a more sustainable future for the country. As such, it will interest policymakers, researchers, and practitioners working in the sustainability and environmental management field. The successful implementation of a circular economy in Egypt will require collective efforts from stakeholders to promote long-term sustainability and environmental stewardship.

The organic matter of the soil and humus are heterogeneous in composition. That is why the nature of soil organic matter has not yet been fully understood and causes many discussions. The purpose of this work is to study the identification features of humus in the process of peat's transformation. The results of a fiveyear experiment studying the processes of organic matter transformation in organic-mineral substrate based on peat growing coniferous seedlings in greenhouses are presented. In the dynamics of the group and fractional composition of humus for several years the biochemical essence of the humification process is revealed. To extract specific humic substances from the organogenic substrate, we used the method of fractioning humus into groups and fractions, which is a stepwise sequential extraction using solutions of sodium hydroxide and sulfuric acid. It was found that the organic matter of the substrate passes through three stages of transformation: hydrolysis of organic products → initial transformation → humification of lignin structures. There is a significant change in the ratio of the three main groups of humus in favor of humic acids at the third stage. In general, the system is tends to its most stable state: aromatic structures are copolymerized, the core of humic substances is densified, and humus gradually "matures".

To secure sustainable food production for meeting the growing global demand for food, it is imperative, while at the same time challenging, to make efficient use of natural resources with minimal impact on the environment. The study objective is to provide insights into the multiple benefits and trade-offs of different sustainable agricultural practices that are relevant across pedo-climatic zones in Europe and North Africa, including conservation agriculture, crop diversification, organic agriculture, and agroforestry. Widespread adoption of these practices in specific regions depends on the effectiveness with which their applications and attributes are communicated to farmers, and their suitability to local conditions and opportunities. Scale impacts of the practices range from field to catchment levels, but the best empirical evidence has been generated at field level in on-farm and experimental trials. The outcomes from the application of each of these practices depend on variables specific to each site, including pedo-climatic zone, geography, weather, ecology, culture, and traditions. Each practice has trade-offs and the same practice can have different effects when compared to conventional agriculture. To make site-specific recommendations, a careful assessment of overall benefits must be made. Adoption can be stimulated when farmers have the opportunity to experiment on their own land and discover the advantages and disadvantages of different practices.
