Quality of grain and flour of foreign bread wheat cultivars (Triticum aestivum L.) under the conditions of south Dobrudzha region

Abstract: Dobrudzha Agricultural Institute One of the main directions of the breeding programs in common winter wheat, besides increasing productivity, is developing of cultivars with excellent baking properties. An important prerequisite for this is the involvement of new gene plasma of variable origin, which is adequate to the growing conditions and the desired breeding direction. The aim of investigation is study of some main properties related to the grain quality and the baking properties of bread wheat accessions … Show more

“…Research data in climatically similar regions of the Balkan Peninsula confirm this statement (Öztürk, 2022;Ilin et al, 2022). Changes occurring in quality (GI) can change correlations with grain yield, in a direction that allows a progressive increase of the latter, without negatively affecting the quality (Herrera, et al, 2020;Ilin et al, 2022) The sedimentation value (Zeleny) is the most popular quality index because it has proven high positive correlations with a few other indexes (Chamurliyski et al, 2016;Branković et al, 2018). This makes it an effective breeding tool in efforts to successfully combine grain yield and quality (Tsenov et al, 2021).…”

“…In the present study, we have used a sample publication as a basis for comparison, including with the regards to the statistical analyses: Chamurliyski, P., Penchev, E., & Tsenov, N., Productivity and stability of the yield from common winter wheat cultivars developed at IPGR (Institute of Plant Genetic Resources) Sadovo under the conditions of Dobrudzha region. Agricultural Science and Technology, 2015, 7(1): 19-24 [12]. The statistical software XLSTAT Ver.…”

“…The breeding process for developing new hybrids is a long one involving collection and developing of initial material, selection and estimation of parental components, testing of the new forms made, their release and distribution. The successful outcome of each breeding project is the development of high-yielding genotypes, which have not only valuable traits from a scientific point of view, but also have been realized in production (Christov et al, 2009;Chamurliyski et al, 2011;Chamurliyski and Tsenov, 2013;Georgiev et al, 2013Georgiev et al, , 2014. Therefore, tests of the new hybrids are carried out under different soil and climatic conditions to determine their maximum productivity potential (Marinković et al, 2011;Tahsin, 2012;Valkova, 2013; Gonzales et al, 2013;Encheva et al, 2014).…”
