Abstract: Traditional ichnofabric-descriptive (semiquantitative) schemes rely upon subjective estimates of the degree to which original sedimentary fabrics have been disrupted. This paper presents an objective method of quantifying bioturbation in hemipelagic sediments based on a thin-section image-analysis technique.
