Quantitative anatomy of the primary ossification center in the fetal pubis bone

Abstract: Purposes Skeletodysplasiae and hereditary dysostoses constitute a group of over 350 disorders of the skeletal system. Knowledge about development of the pubic primary ossification center may be useful in both determining the fetal stage and maturity, and for detecting congenital disorders. The present study was performed to quantitatively examine the pubic primary ossification center with respect to its linear, planar, and volumetric parameters. Materials and methods Us… Show more

“…Radiography was used to evaluate the pubic bone in this study. Diseases causing abnormality and delay of ossification in the pubic bone include endocrine disorders, chromosomal disorders and bone dysplasia 4 . Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging provide more detailed information on both the ossification centers and the unossified cartilage than radiographs 4,5 .…”

“…Diseases causing abnormality and delay of ossification in the pubic bone include endocrine disorders, chromosomal disorders and bone dysplasia 4 . Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging provide more detailed information on both the ossification centers and the unossified cartilage than radiographs 4,5 . These modalities should therefore be used in studies in the future because they may provide more detailed information about the pubic bone than radiography 4,5 …”

“…Зрощення первинних центрів скостеніння тазової кістки спочатку відбувається між сідничою та лобковою кістками. При народженні лобкова кістка ще відокремлена від сідничої кістки хрящем у вигляді сідничо-лобкового синхондрозу [11].…”
