Quasi-Stationary Measurements of Lignamon Thermal Properties

Abstract: Thermal properties of wood and modified wood-based materials are important parameters that influence the manufacturing process and final industrial utilization. The aim of this work was to investigate three main thermal properties (thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity, and specific heat capacity) of ammonia-treated compressed beech wood (Lignamon material) and natural beech wood (Fagus sylvatica). These properties were measured based on the quasi-stationary method developed at the Department of Wood Scienc… Show more

“…Part of the mechanical energy consumed during cutting and milling is changed into thermal energy due to friction. The thermal conductivity of wood is low, unlike metals [17][18][19][20]. Therefore, most of the heat generated during milling is transferred to the tool that results in its increased temperature.…”

“…Unlike metals, the thermal conductivity of wood is low. Therefore, most of the heat generated during milling is transferred to the tool, which leads to its increased temperature [20][21][22]. The influence of the temperature of the tool during the cutting process on the service life of the tool was dealt with by many authors who discovered the influence of several parameters of the machining process, the properties of the tool, and the material being machined.…”

“…e results are in compliance with those gathered in works of other authors. e authors [17,18] investigating properties of medium-density fiberboards dealt with the quasi-dynamic method too. e research of the authors [19] was aimed at thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity of wood.…”
