Quenched QCD withO(a)improvement: The spectrum of light hadrons

Abstract: We present a comprehensive study of the masses of pseudoscalar and vector mesons, as well as octet and decuplet baryons computed in O(a)-improved quenched lattice QCD. Results have been obtained using the nonperturbative definition of the improvement coefficient c sw , and also its estimate in tadpole improved perturbation theory. We investigate effects of improvement on the incidence of exceptional configurations, mass splittings, and the parameter J. By combining the results obtained using nonperturbative an… Show more

“…Lattice calculations have yielded very accurate spectroscopic information regarding low-lying hadrons [1,2] and glueballs [3,4,5,6,7,8]. These calculations show that the lowest-lying scalar, tensor and axial vector glueballs lie in the mass region 1 -2.5 GeV.…”

“…A full analysis of the chiral corrections at finite lattice spacing should be performed in the mixed-action theory [23] when resources to calculate at another lattice spacing materialize. While there have been other quenched QCD [24,25,26,27] and full-QCD [28,29,30,31] studies of octet baryon masses, to our knowledge there have been no other full-QCD studies of the complete baryon octet in the chiral regime, prior to this work.…”

“…Details of the fitting procedure, and extraction of the spectrum and amplitudes between the vacuum and meson states at zero threemomentum: M P |ψγ 5 ψ|0 for example can be found in [13,25]. We used the fuzzing smearing function [28] for the light quark propagators and a hydrogenic gauge invariant function [29] for the heavy quarks.…”

“…All the light quarks had masses around that of the strange quark. parameter which corresponds to zero quark mass, κ s and κ n are taken from [13] where the lattice spacing has been fixed from the Sommer scale r 0 [14,15]. Statistical errors are estimated using the bootstrap [16] with 1000 re-samplings.…”
