Rapid Micro‐Scale Patterning of Alkanethiolate Self‐Assembled Monolayers on Au Surface by Atmospheric Micro‐Plasma Stamp

Abstract: A dielectric barrier discharge‐based micro‐plasma stamp is used to transfer a micro‐scale pattern onto ultra‐thin octadecanethiolate (ODT) self‐assembled monolayers chemically adsorbed on Au (111). The results show that the specified pattern was transferred onto ODT/Au with a distortion rate of less than 1% and no significant changes in the imprint dimensions. The adsorbates formed during plasma treatment or exposure to air affected the transfer of patterns. The wet‐etching rate for the washed and patterned OD… Show more

“…The direct carbonization/polymerization of organic compounds in a submerged plasma condition is a soft solution process at ambient conditions8910. The formation of plasma in aqueous solutions facilitates metal oxide powder synthesis1112, the formation of nanomaterials1314, the removal of organic pollutants from wastewater15, hydrogen production16, disinfection17, reduction of metal ion18, medical applications19, and analytical tools20. In a plasma reaction, the organic solvent undergoes a carbonization or polymerization reaction depending on its functional groups.…”

“…widely applied in biomedicine [3,4], such as in plasmapolymerized coating [5][6][7][8][9], surface modification [10][11][12][13], and skin decontamination [14][15][16][17]. Among studies using DBD AP to adhere protein on substrate, the conventional DBD AP protein immobilization process consists of two steps.…”
