Rare Breast Cancer Subtypes: Histological, Molecular, and Clinical Peculiarities

Abstract: Breast cancer encompasses a collection of different diseases characterized by different biological and pathological features, clinical presentation, response to treatments, clinical behavior, and outcome. On the basis of cell morphology, growth, and architecture patterns, breast cancer can be classified in up to 21 distinct histological types. Breast cancer special types, including the classic lobular invasive carcinoma, represent 25% of all breast cancers. The histological diversity of breast carcinomas has r… Show more

“…These subtypes differ in terms of clinical presentation, risk factors, response to chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and patient's survival rate. [15][16][17] So microscopic subtyping and four main molecular subtyping are now a day is generally done in all newly diagnosed breast cancer. In our study after the diagnosis of breast cancer we referred the patients to higher centre for molecular subtyping and further treatment.…”

“…There are up to 21 distinct histological subtypes and at least four different molecular subtypes of breast cancer that are biologically different in presentation, response to therapy and outcomes as well as having distinct risk factors [9][10][11][12][13][14]. Distinctions between types relate to the hormone receptor status (HR+/HR-) and excess levels of human epidermal growth factor-a growth-promoting protein-receptor 2 status (HER2+/HER2-).…”

“…По данным большинства авторов, слизистый рак чаще реги-стрируется у женщин в возрасте старше 60 лет [2,7,8]. Сред-ний возраст заболевших составляет 65-71 лет [8,9,10,11]. Возрастной диапазон выявления слизистого рака очень широк и составляет, по мнению разных исследователей, 25-85 лет.…”
