Rational Design of Metal Nanoframes for Catalysis and Plasmonics

Abstract: Recently, metal nanoframes have received increased attention due to their unique spatial and physicochemical, e.g., catalytic and plasmonic properties. So far, a variety of synthetic procedures have been developed to fabricate metal nanoframes with different shapes, sizes and compositions. Typical synthesis of metal nanoframes involves two stages: 1) formation of solid nanocrystals and 2) hollowing out the interiors and side faces. In this review, solution-phase synthetic strategies are summarized, based on ga… Show more

“…Upon addition of specific surfactants, it is possible to fabricate metallic hollow nanostructures when all the reactants are added to the container at the same time. 254 Of these hollow nanomaterials constructed through a one-pot approach, Pt−Cu alloy with hollow nanostructures have been widely investigated. Novel cubic PtCu 3 nanocages were prepared through dissolution of H 2 PtCl 6 ·6H 2 O, Cu(acac) 2 , and CTAB in OAm, with subsequent solvothermal process.…”

“…[1] Recently, it has been further recognized that the material with specific nanostructures could demonstrate unique properties or enhanced performance. [17,[22][23][24][25][26][28][29][30][31][32] Nowadays, www.advmat.de www.advancedsciencenews.com structural traits and diverse chemical compositions, the electronic properties of the PB and PBA materials can be tailored by external stimulus, e.g., magnetic/electric field, [39,40] photoradiation, [41] temperature, [42] pressure, [43] and chemical modifications. Many review papers have provided insights into this field from diverse perspectives: synthetic strategies, [10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17] structural diversity, [18][19][20][21][22][23] product compositions, [24][25][26][27] and potential applications.…”

“…16 Noble nanostructures with exposed high-indexed facets have excellent catalytic performance. [18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25] Among them, seeded growth and selective etching are very fascinating owing to their multi-functions in generating nanostructures. So far, lots of protocols including seeded growth, template, selective etching (galvanic etching or others) have been widely used.…”
