The reactions of rccoil chlorine "C1 (n, 7)"a in binary mixtures of carbon tetrachloride with n-aliphatic alcohols and acetone have been investigated. Studies on these same mixtures were reported before [ 1 -5 ] and a simple theory [4] was developed for the analysis of the results. It was assumed that in aliphatic systems a one-stage reaction was taking place, but we have found in the case of mixtures of carbon tetrachloride with aliphatic alcohols and acetone a curve and not a straight line. This behaviour is explained by recombination reactions of "C1 atoms and perchloromethyl radicals in the diffusion zone.
