“…The Taguchi method has been recently implemented with success in several Materials Science studies. [27][28][29][30][31] Studies as distinct as the optimization of the fabrication of TiO 2 -Nb 2 O 5 -Al 2 O 3 mixed oxide nanotube arrays on Ti-6Al-7Nb, 27 the design of multicomponent ferrospinels for high-temperature purposes, 28 the densi-cation of ZrB 2 -based composites by reactive hot pressing with changes in ZrO 2 /SiC ratio and sintering conditions, 29 the bond strength optimization of Ti/Cu/Ti clad composites produced by roll-bonding, 30 or the synthesis of minimal-size ZnO nanoparticles through sol-gel method 31 were recently made using the Taguchi method. In these works, L-9 and L-32 orthogonal arrays 26 were used, allowing a strong decrease in the number of experiences needed to determine the optimal conditions.…”

“…Bulk ceramics are the initial application form for UHTCs, which can be densified by various methods, including hot pressing (HP) [67][68][69][70][71][72], spark plasma sintering (SPS) [73,76,79], reactive hot-pressing (RHP) [74,75,77,78], and pressureless sintering (PLS) [80][81][82][83][84][85], etc. The following part focuses on the various densification processes, as well as the sintering aids on the densification behavior of UHTCs.…”

“…Pressure-assisted reactive sintering was used to produce many (also non-metal) composites such as ZrB2-SiC-ZrC [20], B4C/Li2O-Al2O3-SiO2 [21], Al-Si [22], ZrB2-SiC-ZrO2 [23], TiC/Ti3SiC2 [24] or reinforced Al matrix composites [3] [25]. Depending on material and processing conditions, porosity varied between 2.4% [21] and 26% [24].…”
