Reaktivasi Area Palma-Purwokerto Melalui Urban Akupunktur

Abstract

The Palma Area is located in the center of Purwokerto City, Central Java. This area has various images attached to the local community since it was first operated. Before the independence of the Republic of Indonesia, this area was a resident of Kranji Village, then it was converted into the Serajoedal Stoomtram Maatschappij (SDS) railway line to facilitate the delivery of sugar by the Dutch East Indies government. After that, this area was developed and changed its name to East Purwokerto Station. During the independence of the Republic of Indonesia, this area caught fire and caused a decrease in the number of visitors, so it was turned into a warehouse for PT Pupuk Sriwijaya. In the end, the function of this area was completely transformed into a shop or commercial area while maintaining the authenticity of the station building. The name Palma is taken from one of the famous and victorious photo printing shops of its time. Due to the failure of the project to be built, these places keep the station area that has been evicted and shops whose buildings are still there. At this time, the city of Purwokerto is experiencing infrastructure development and increasing population growth. This is also supported by the surrounding areas which consider the City of Purwokerto as a center of trade and education. As an area visited by the people of Purwokerto City and its surroundings, the Palma Area is experiencing a decline in existence and degradation of activity and physical activity. Therefore, action is needed to improve the quality and quantity so that the Palma Area can come back to life. Through the Urban Acupuncture method, the Palma Area is planned to be a public activity point that has a commercial area and public space for the people of Purwokerto. Thus, the Palma Area can again become an attraction for Purwokerto. Keywords: Acupuncture; Crowded; Palma; Purwokerto Abstrak Area Palma terletak di pusat Kota Purwokerto, Jawa Tengah. Area ini memiliki berbagai citra yang melekat pada masyarakat setempat sejak pertama kali dioperasikan. Sebelum kemerdekaan RI, area ini merupakan sebuah permukiman penduduk bernama Desa Kranji, kemudian dialihfungsikan menjadi jalur kereta api Serajoedal Stoomtram Maatschappij (SDS) untuk mempermudah pengiriman gula oleh pemerintahan Hindia-Belanda. Setelah itu, area ini dikembangkan dan berganti nama menjadi Stasiun Purwokerto Timur. Saat kemerdekaan RI, area ini dibakar dan sempat mengalami penurunan jumlah pengunjung, sehingga fungsinya dialihkan menjadi Gudang PT Pupuk Sriwijaya. Hingga pada akhirnya, fungsi area ini berubah total menjadi pertokoan atau area komersial dengan tetap menjaga keaslian gedung stasiun. Nama Palma diambil dari salah satu toko cetak foto yang terkenal dan jaya pada masanya. Karena kegagalan proyek yang akan dibangun, tempat ini berujung menyisakan area stasiun yang telah digusur dan pertokoan yang bangunannya masih ada. Di masa ini, Kota Purwokerto mengalami perkembangan infrastruktur dan pertambahan penduduk yang terus meningkat. Hal ini juga didukung oleh daerah-daerah di sekitarnya yang menjadikan Kota Purwokerto sebagai pusat perdagangan dan pendidikan sehingga, menimbulkan banyak titik aktivitas dan keramaian di Kota Purwokerto. Namun, tidak demikian dengan Area Palma cenderung mengalami kemunduran eksistensi dan degradasi aktivitas dan fisik. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan tindakan untuk meningkatkan kualitas dan kuantitas agar Area Palma dapat hidup kembali. Melalui metode Urban Akupunktur, Area Palma direncanakan menjadi sebuah titik aktivitas publik yang memiliki area komersial dan ruang publik bagi masyarakat Purwokerto. Dengan demikian, Area Palma dapat kembali menjadi daya tarik Kota Purwokerto.
