Real-Observation Quantum-Inspired Evolutionary Algorithm for a Class of Numerical Optimization Problems

Abstract: Abstract. This paper proposes a real-observation quantum-inspired evolutionary algorithm (RQEA) to solve a class of globally numerical optimization problems with continuous variables. By introducing a real observation and an evolutionary strategy, suitable for real optimization problems, based on the concept of Q-bit phase, RQEA uses a Q-gate to drive the individuals toward better solutions and eventually toward a single state corresponding to a real number varying between 0 and 1. Experimental results show th… Show more

“…No further attention was paid to QIEAs until a practical algorithm was proposed by Kim (2000, 2002), but they are now viewed as an emergent theme in evolutionary computation. Albeit various variants of QIEA have been presented in the literature, they can be categorized into three types: binary observation QIEA (bQIEA) (Han and Kim 2000, real observation QIEA (rQIEA) (Zhang and Rong 2007c;Liu et al 2008) and QIEA-like algorithms (iQIEA) (Abs da Cruz et al 2004Cruz et al , 2006Sailesh Babu et al 2008). Inspired by the concepts of quantum computing, such as qubits and quantum gates, a QIEA has the following main characteristics.…”

“…Real-observation QIEAs have been reported in many studies (Zhang and Rong, 2007;Liu et al, 2008;Zhang and Gao, 2007a;Sailesh-Babu et al, 2008) to solve global real-valued (continuous) optimization problems. These methods have been proposed based on the basis of the concept and principles of quantum computing such as Q-bits and super position of states.…”

“…For example, some algorithms based on the quantum computation ideas are presented in [13]. The studies of the quantum algorithms and the possibilities of their modification and improvement are carried out in [14,15]. Other potential approaches also include the option of the transition to qutrits representation of the population and can be considered as directions for further research.…”
