Real-Time Reliability Monitoring of DC-Link Capacitors in Back-to-Back Converters

Abstract: Electrolytic capacitors have large capacity, low price, and fast charge/discharge characteristics. Therefore, they are widely used in various power conversion devices. These electrolytic capacitors are mainly used for temporary storage and voltage stabilization of DC energy and have recently been used in the renewable energy field for linking AC/DC voltage and buffering charge/discharge energy. However, electrolytic capacitors continue to be disadvantageous in their reliability due to their structural weakness… Show more

“…Wind Turbine Characterization The emulation of wind turbine using DC machines of low power and inertia using efficient software programs is the research trend [51,52]. Different control techniques are used with wind turbine emulator to assure its characterization besides the experimental validation of the real wind turbine [53][54][55][56].…”

“…Developing electronic power solutions is necessary for future applications in distribution networks. Direct power converters (DPCs) allow direct high-e ciency AC-AC conversion [1,19]. In addition, these converters allow two-way power passage, and the harmonic distortions of their input currents are signi cantly low.…”
