Real-World Three-Year Clinical Outcomes of Biolimus-Eluting Stents versus Other Contemporary Drug-Eluting Stents in Patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction Patients: Data from the Korea Acute Myocardial Infarction Registry (KAMIR)

Abstract: Introduction. Biolimus-eluting stents (BES) are known to be superior to bare-metal stents. This study aims to evaluate the safety and efficacy of BES compared to other drug-eluting stents (DES) based on big data from the Korea Acute Myocardial Infarction Registry (KAMIR). Methods. The study analyzed a total of 9,759 acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with DES. Total death, cardiac death, recurrent MI, revascularization, stent thrombosis, target les… Show more

“…Recently, a large observational study based on the data of Korea Acute Myocardial Infarction Registry (KAMIR) showed significantly better outcomes in patients with MI treated with BP-BES (75% Biomatrix® and 25% Nobori®) compared to those treated with either DP everolimus-or zotarolimus-eluting stents (15).…”

“…Therefore, the potential benefits of BP-BES over other current generation DES may have been underestimated. Recently, a large registry of MI patients treated with standard DAPT regimens showed better outcomes with BP-BES compared to other contemporary DES (15).…”

“…Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) remains the primary interventional treatment for ACS [ 2 , 3 ]. However, approximately 15–46% of patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases develop MACEs following PCI [ 4 , 5 , 6 ]. As a worldwide health issue, cardiovascular health (CVH) has generated extensive concern among global scholars.…”
