Recent Advances of Mesoporous Silica as a Platform for Cancer Immunotherapy

Abstract: Immunotherapy is a promising modality of treatment for cancer. Immunotherapy is comprised of systemic and local treatments that induce an immune response, allowing the body to fight back against cancer. Systemic treatments such as cancer vaccines harness antigen presenting cells (APCs) to activate T cells with tumor-associated antigens. Small molecule inhibitors can be employed to inhibit immune checkpoints, disrupting tumor immunosuppression and immune evasion. Despite the current efficacy of immunotherapy, i… Show more

“…The MSNs with sizes ranging from 100 to 200 nm were thought to be relatively safe according to a previous publication. 36 To quantify the Mn amount doped into MSNs, ICP-AES analysis was performed. As shown in Table 3, the mass concentrations of Mn in MSNs, MM1, and MM2 were 0, 13.9 AE 3.1%, and 24.9 AE 1.1%, respectively.…”

“…[45,46] Thus, a wide variety of SNPs are available to meet the needs of diverse applications in many fields. Ever since the early days of the development of SNPs, researchers had spotted the potential of SNPs in biomedical applications, [47][48][49] especially as nanocarriers for biomolecules delivery. Recent developments of SNPs are not just limited to precise control of their structures, compostions and surface modifications.…”
