Recent progress in chiral separation principles in capillary electrophoresis

Abstract: This review summarizes recent developments in the field of chiral separations by electromigration techniques including capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE), capillary gel electrophoresis (CGE), isotachophoresis (ITP), electrokinetic chromatography (EKC), and capillary electrochromatography (CEC). This overview focuses on the development of new chiral selectors and the introduction of new techniques rather than applications of already established selectors and methods. The mechanisms of the different chiral sep… Show more

“…In capillary electrochromatography (CEC), which represents a recent technique, similarly to HPLC chiral stationary phases or chiral mobile phase additives can be applied. Several comprehensive reviews give a survey of chiral separation principles used in CE and applications to various compound classes [10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17].…”

“…The reader will be referred to specialized review articles for details. Several recent comprehensive reviews and book articles summarize chromatographic [3][4][5][6][7][8][9] and electrophoretic methods [10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17] for chiral separation in general.…”

“…Gübitz and Schmid documented the recent progresses in chiral separation by various modes of CE. 21,26,27 MEKC is performed by solubilization of pseudostationary phase such as surfactants into BGE. CEC is a hybrid form of chromatographic and electrophoretic principles, extends the utilization of chromatographic principles to CE-based enantioseparation.…”

“…For chiral amino acids separation, CDs are the most commonly used chiral selective additives [38][39][40][41]. In our case, because of the low temperature range used (3-307C), hydroxypropyl-b-CD (HPbCD) was selected due to its better solubility at low temperature.…”
