Abstract: Growing interest in the evolution of Pharmaceutical Drugs had made to bring certain analytical techniques into limelight. Many such techniques are used to extract, purify and characterize (structurally and molecularly), newly produced vital drugs. This review gives information regarding emerging trends in using various analytical techniques like HPLC, HPTLC, LC-MS/MS, etc.In development of newly producing drugs. The proposed methods were statistically equivalent and showed satisfactory results.

HPTLC is an advanced type of planar chromatography used extensively in the recent years for fingerprinting of medicinal plants, products and for screening lichen substances, quantification of active ingredients and herbal drugs, phytochemical and biomedical analysis and also used to check of presence of adulterants in the formulation. It is more sensitive and possible to run more sample in a short period of time, by using small amount of solvent. It is one of the sophisticated instrumental techniques based on the full capabilities of thin layer chromatography. In this paper, a brief discussion of the type of instrument used in HPTLC, its entire approach, and how this procedure is superior to TLC is presented. This article attempts to concentrate on the use of HPTLC by including examples of medications, medicinal drugs, and formulations that have been analyzed using HPTLC.

A common excellent replacement for GC and HPLC is High-Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC), an improved and automated technique of thin-layer chromatography (TLC) that provides better separation performance and detection limits. Applications of HPTLC include the study of biological materials and phytochemicals, the measurement of herbal medications and active components, formulation fingerprinting, and the identification of adulterants in formulations. Using HPTLC, chemicals of forensic importance can be located. It is more sensitive and feasible to run many samples in a little period of time by using a small volume of solvent. It is one of the more intricate instrumental procedures, utilizing every feature available in thin-layer chromatography.

Analytical methods development and validation play important roles in the discovery, development and Manufacture of pharmaceuticals. Method development is the process of proving that an analytical method is acceptable for use to measure the concentration of an API in a specific compounded dosage form which allow simplified procedures to be employed to verify that an analysis procedure, accurately and consistently will deliver a reliable measurement of an active ingredient in a compounded preparation. The analytical method validation is essential for analytical method development and tested extensively for specificity, linearity, accuracy, precision, range, detection limit, quantization limit, and robustness. In summary, analytical method development and validation allows to confirm that an accurate and reliable potency measurement of a pharmaceutical preparation can be performed.
