“…In keeping with the recent report of Huh et al (2007) and others (Bloomfield et al, 1983;Ueshima et al, 1985;Tanaka et al, 1990;McKeithan et al, 1997;Michaux et al, 1997;Au et al, 2002;Soma et al, 2006) we have confirmed its presence in atypical CLL and its association with large cell transformation.…”

“…This is in accordance with published data; the prevalence of t( 14; 19) assessed by cytogenetic and/or molecular analysis varies between 0 and 1.8% (Van Krieken et al, 1990;Raghoebier et al, 1991;Clark et al, 1992;Asou et al, 1993). Despite its low frequency, t(14;19) is typical for a subset of B-cell malignancies described as C L L (Bloomfield et al, 1983;Ueshima et al, 1985;Crossen et al, 1989;Busschots et al, 1991;Koduru et al, 1993;Ohno et al, 1993), N H L (Speaks et al, 1987;Tanaka et al, 1990;Sol6 et al, 1994), and acute biphenotypic leukemia with B-cell component (Carter et al, 1991). We found an analogous distribution: two cases of CLL, three cases of "mixed cell" type C L L (one CLL/PL and two C L L with heterogeneous population of B-cells), and one case of low-grade NHL.…”

“…5 The t (14;19) or bcl-3 gene rearrangement has been reported rarely in non-Hodgkin lymphomas, in approximately 35 cases, mostly in cases of chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocytic lymphoma, and less frequently in cases designated as follicular lymphoma, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, Burkitt-like lymphoma, and one case of acute biphenotypic leukemia. [6][7][8][9][10][11][12] Although the t(14;19) is rare, BCL-3 expression has been shown in a few types of non-Hodgkin lymphoma not known to carry the t (14;19). For example, two recent studies have shown high levels of BCL-3 expression in ALKpositive anaplastic large-cell lymphoma.…”
