Reconstruction of refractive-index distribution in off-axis digital holography optical diffraction tomographic system

Abstract: In the paper the optical diffraction tomographic system for reconstruction of the internal refractive index distribution in optical fiber utilizing grating Mach-Zehnder interferometer configuration is explored. The setup applies afocal imaging. Conventional grating application gives, however, highly aberrated object beam producing incorrect refractive-index reconstructions. The grating inherent aberrations are characterized, its influence on both image projections and refractive index reconstructions is presen… Show more

“…Using a diffraction tomography reconstruction algorithm, 3-D RI maps of a sample are obtained from multiple 2-D holograms measured at various angles of illumination, or rotations of a sample. ODT has been employed for the inspection of optical elements such as optical fibers and waveguides [9,10] as well as for the study of pathophysiology of biological cells [11][12][13][14][15][16].Here, we present measurements of 3-D RI distribution of plastic lenses using ODT. Using Mach-Zehnder interferometry, multiple 2-D optical fields of a plastic lens were measured at various orientations, from which 3-D RI distribution of the lens was reconstructed.…”

“…The technique is also demonstrated for tomographic profiles of microfiber [200,201]. Instead of full rotation, the illumination angle is scanned over a finite range in [202,203].…”

“…In order to acquire quantitative information of the observed sample without labeling, interferometric phase microscopy (IPM) can be used [13][14][15]. Previous works combined optical tweezers and IPM for cells manipulation [16][17][18][19][20][21], however none of them integrated IPM with array of optical traps created by holography methods for TPM of live cells in suspension.…”
