Reconstruction of the tympanic membrane applying cartilage: Techniques, indications and results

Abstract: Autogenous cartilage-perichondrium-composite-grafts have become essential and well established transplant materials in reconstructive middle ear surgery. They have proven to be particularly appropriate for surgical situations which benefit from the bradytrophy and stiffness of the cartilage (adhesive otitis, retraction pockets, subtotal tympanic membrane defects, revision tympanoplasty).
