“…Tegaserod was shown to shorten intestinal transit time with no effect on gastric emptying (76). Shortening of gastric emptying time may occur with lying on the right side for the first 2 hours of the procedure (77).…”

“…In a small (n = 37) randomized study also using bowel preparation (mostly with a 4-l solution of polyethylene glycol, PEG), erythromycin reduced the gastric transit time by 55 min, but increased the small-intestinal transit time by 70 min, with the rates of complete small-bowel examination being the same ± 84 % vs. 80 % [4]. In a small study, tegaserod was said to reduce small-intestinal transit times [2], along with right lateral positioning [6]. The effects of bowel preparation are unclear [4], but one randomized trial compared no preparation with a 1-l PEG solution before swallowing of the capsule (n = 50).…”

“…Two studies, both published in abstract form, reported the effect of RLP on the GTT and rate of complete small−bowel exam− ination. Sachdev et al found that RLP significantly facilitates gastric emptying of the video capsule in a safe manner [19]. Pat− tullo et al found that RLP was not able to reduce GTT nor in− crease the CER in their population [20].…”
