Refractive index dispersion of spinel Zn2TiO4 single crystal

Abstract: The transmittance and absorption spectra of a high-quality Zn 2 TiO 4 single crystal have been measured along the a-axes at room-temperature in the range of 200-1000 nm. The wavelength dependent refractive index, extinction coefficient, real and imaginary parts of the complex dielectric constant of the Zn 2 TiO 4 crystal have been derived from the measured T and α spectra. By fitting the refractive index spectrum, the Sellmeier dispersion equation of the Zn 2 TiO 4 crystal has been obtained. The validity of Ca… Show more

“…Thus, all the measured properties of Zn 2 TiO 4 , particularly the bandgap and interband transitions process, have been made only on polycrystalline samples 12, 23–25. Recently, we reported the growth of high‐quality Zn 2 TiO 4 crystals by the optical floating zone method 26, 27. In this paper, the optical absorption and polarized Raman spectra of the as‐grown Zn 2 TiO 4 crystal were investigated for the first time, and its optical interband transitions were discussed for further theoretical studies and practical device fabrications.…”

“…The formation of nanocrystals exhibiting a higher refractive index than the original amorphous film together with the films' densification significantly contributed to the regular increase of the refractive indices. Although the films were completely crystallized, the refractive index's final value did not reach the value of 2.1 reported for single-crystalline Zn2TiO4 [23]. Such a disproportion can be attributed to the presence of pores remaining in the films.…”
